The reunion is over and we’ll have another in a few years. This doesn’t mean that we can’t continue to connect with each other. Feel free to email me at eplybon@gmail.com if you’d like to post an article on the blog, or simply comment on this post.

The toughest part of putting together a reunion is getting good addresses for everyone. Please keep this in mind if you move between now and the next one. It’s the only way we can make the next reunion bigger and better!

Tonight is the first event of the 25th year reunion. The festivities are taking place as I type this post. Everyone is at the Anchor Inn. I’m sure they are enjoying reconnecting with classmates. I wish I were there! Sadly, I had a conflict come up that I couldn’t avoid. I’ll be watching for everyone to continue posting their updates here, and I’ve been told that I will be supplied with pictures from the various activities so that I can keep all the rest of us who couldn’t go to the reunion updated with the latest!

Now that some of us have started visiting the blog and communicating again, I thought I’d start a post for people to comment with a little update about their lives. I’m trying to compile information like this to put on a website for everyone to be able to look at. This will make it so that people who can’t come to the reunion can update everyone and also be able to read about how everyone else is doing.

Reunion Information Update

Emails and postcards have gone out to the last known email and snail mail addresses for our classmates. There are a couple of changes to the information you may have received.

First, the cost to attend the picnic has changed since the original registration was emailed. The form that comes up when you click the REGISTRATION link is correct, and shows a reduced price for kids for the picnic.

Second, if you received a postcard, you may have noticed that it shows the location for June 27 to be Carey Park. This is incorrect. For clarification, here is a list of the reunion events:

Friday evening, June 27 – informal gathering at The Anchor Inn. There is no registration cost associated with this, and you are responsible for the cost of whatever you eat and drink.

Saturday, June 28, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – family picnic at the Carey Park Gazebo. Cost $8.00 per adult, children 6-16 $5.00, kids under 5 free.

Saturday, June 28, 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. – Dinner and dance at the State Fairgrounds Encampment Building. Catering by Hog Wild BBQ and music by Hot Trax. Cost is $25.00 per person.

I hope this clears everything up! Be sure to register as soon as possible and pass the word on to fellow classmates in case they haven’t heard!

Within the next few days, you should be receiving information about registering for the class reunion. We are sending them to email addresses and snail mail addresses we have on file. If you know of the addresses of classmates, we are still needing information for several people, so send us what you have and we’ll sort it out.

Okay, I thought I’d explain why I put “We Were Cool Once” under the title of the blog (I know you probably didn’t notice that until I just said it, right?). Anyway, it was inspired by a song I found on Garageband. It’s by Pat Bacon and it is called “We Were Cool Too”. If you’d like to listen to it, click HERE.

What Has Changed?

I visited good ol’ Hutchinson this past weekend to help my mother move to Texas. I looked at the town as a person who will likely not be back, except for the reunions, of course. I thought about all the things that have changed. For example, there’s a Starbucks in town now! I thought I’d start this post so that people can comment and reveal other things they’ve seen change in Hutchinson, and for those of you who haven’t visited in awhile, feel free to post questions about our old hometown.

(Yes, I know that probably nobody is reading this blog, but you can’t blame a person for trying, right?) *grin*
