About the Blogger

My nElaineame is Elaine (Griffin) Plybon, and I’ll be updating the class blog this year. Some of you may remember me, others may not, but the cool thing is, we all graduated from the same high school at the same time!

I live in Texas now, work as a Coordinator for The Infinity Project at Southern Methodist University, and have a wonderful husband and five children (a blended family), ages 16, 13, 12, 10, and 7. I also maintain the blog for the Discovery Educator Network in Texas. You can view that blog here.

I’d love to reconnect with old classmates. I Twitter as glad2be, and have a MySpace – or you can use old-fashioned email! You can also read my personal blog by clicking here.

Elaine,
I remember you! I don’t know if I can make the reunion (I’m living on Russia’s doormat–may have to wait for the 30th), but I’d be happy to send you the emails of the classmates I have.
Where should I send them?
Best,
Scott

Any emails you have can be sent to hutchhigh83@yahoo.com and I’ll get the class list updated! Thanks 🙂

3. Michael Schnabel - May 6, 2008

Elaine,

Sure, I remember you! (and Scott Diel from the last blog). I plan on coming down from Minnesota for the reunion and to spend a few days in Hutch. I look forward to catching up with the the class of 83.

4. Dana Spurlock, Fritschen, Jones - May 27, 2008

What is the point in attending a high school reunion where no one will remember you??
And I will prove this point by asking all of ya’ … How many of you remember me??

Happy to see all of ya’ and those I do not remember from the class of 1983, enjoying your successful lives. Looks like some of us have caught the golden star!

The point for me is just to kind of keep myself grounded about where I came from and where I’ve gone. Most of my good high school friends don’t attend the reunions, but the opportunity to visit with people whose presence reminds me of my high school days, and to see where everyone has gone, is always worth it. Plus, I get to spend a date night with hubby, so it can’t be all bad, right?

6. Edie DeVault Larson - May 27, 2008

Hello everyone– I just got the postcard in the mail today. I didn’t know that this was in the works. I hope to be coming to the reuion. I will be finishing up on a graduate class that Friday. So I will be ready to party. I haven’t been back to Hutch in many years. I think it has been since the last reunion. When we go back to Kansas we go to Manhattan to watch a football game every fall. Go KSU!!!

I look forward to seeing everyone. I hope that things haven’t changed that much. My parents still live there so you can stop by when everyone is in town.

I still live near Peoria, IL. I went back to teaching this year after staying home with kids for 15 years. I have a son in high school now and it brings home a lot of memories of high school years. At least the drinking age is 21. That would be to scary as a parent to think he would be out drinking like we used to. Man what we put our parents through. See you in a month.

7. Joe Bearden - May 28, 2008

Nope didn’t get a postcard in the mail yesterday. I know how to get ahold of a few people that you don’t have addresses for also.

I, my new wife, and our young baby ( yes a new child at 42 yrs. ) will probably be there. Guess I still need to register. Just found this site today.

Have a good one everyone, take care and maybe see you next month.

9. Lori Baudoin Likes - June 10, 2008

Hellooooo to everyone…it’s just me Lori Baudoin-Likes. Hope everyone is well. I am great…living in Hutch. Johnny and I returned to Hutch in ’92, we wanted to raise our kido’s (2-boys) in a small town. Lovin it! Jonathan is now 17 and Jamison 13. No girls, so our home is drama free. Just kidding all you momma’s w/ girls. Would have love to have a girl just wasn’t in the cards.

I will be there, you should all know that I can’t miss out on anything,
never could. Well…unless Joanie and Larry grounded me after Ging’s toga party! OMG what a great time. Where’s Ging?

Lisa and Karla…I hope you make the trip! It has been to long. Remember the Chicago trip and the Oprah show. That is the last time I saw you all…way to long. What about ‘Wink’…will she be able to make it? I am still in constant contact w/ Lori Nunns. She has a big Nunns Reunion in Mo the week before. She will try to make it back to Ks. still unsure… 😦

I hope everyone is excited as I am….looking so forward to it.

Anyone heard form Essmeyer, Fee, Sinclair, Woodson, Buck, Daveline, Wolfenberger…bet ‘Wink’ has. She was always good to keep in touch.

Thanks to everyone on the Reunion Staff, I know how incredibly hard this can be. Right…Bob, Neal, Frank & Becker?
Let’s hope for a great turn-out!

SOMEONE, ANYONE drop me a line…wanna hear from a classmate.

Until then,
~Lori

10. Kim Winkley Nitz - June 23, 2008

Hi all. I have to respond to Lori as I laughed out loud remembering the Chicago visit!! You’re right – it’s been way too long. So long that in that time I have gotten married and had 2 babes (now 4 and 5 years old)! We are coming for the weekend – can’t wait to see everyone.

I did run into Essmyer – he is not coming and it sounded iffy for the other guys he had talked to here in KC. They will regret it when they hear our fun stories!

We may be too late arriving for Friday’s festivities, but hope to see people on Saturday.

11. Jennifer Stiles O'Connor - June 26, 2008

Hi guys!! Don’t know if I’ll be ther this weekend, as our family is moving–UGH!! My husband Kevin is the Deputy District Attorney here in Wichita. We’ve been here about 6 years. Before that, we lived in Hutch for 5 years, which was great. We have 4 kids, son Jameson, 12, daughter Quinn 10, son Hunter, 8, and daughter Blayne, almost 6!! I taught school for 9 years, my last job being at Morgan School in 1999!! My 2nd graders will be Juniors at HHS this year!! Hard to believe!! I’m opening my own Professional Organzing company next month, so it’s wild at our house!! Hope this finds everyone well & thanks so much for the great job on the website. I’ll do my best to make it, if not, have a great time!! Would love to hear from you all!! Jennifer

Thanks

13. Lisa Trostle - June 27, 2008

Hi everyone,

Wow! It’s great to hear what everyone is up to these days. It’s hard to believe that it has been 25 years…time flies by. I’ve been living just north of KC, in Platte City, for the last eight years. I was teaching upper elementary in Leavenworth. I just took a Reading Specialist/Title I coordinator position for a very small school district (Onaga). I’m getting ready to move to Wamego, 15 miles outside of Manhattan so I can’t make it down for the weekend. I have four children- Hope (18) Genna (16) Kelsey (13) and Ian (7).
I hope you have a great time, wish I could be there. If anyone wants to get a hold of me my email is lisatrrt@yahoo.com.

Lisa

14. Sherri Powell (Thode) - June 27, 2008

Hello everyone, great to hear from you. I live here in Hutch with my husband and two daughters (16 and 17, so yes, we have lots of drama). I know it’s pitiful and Elaine will scold, but I don’t think I can make it as my husband’s company has some big thing going on this weekend. But I would love to hear from you all (well, except maybe Scott Diel because after 30 years I still remember that you gave me a BEDPAN in the gift exchange.) I teach 4th grade at Allen and am enjoying summer break and working on my master’s. Drop me a note here or at powellsh4@yahoo.com if you like.

15. David Boesch - February 4, 2009

I hope that everybody make a good effort to attend the 30th reunion as it was a litlle disappointing to see such a small turn out at the 25th.

Who knows maybe in another 4.5 years we can all make the run on Carl’s again.

Cheers to all!

May God Bless You and yours!

16. Christy Tolliver Maskil - June 24, 2009

Hi everyone! Glad to have a common platform here. I’d be willing to do whatever necessary to help keep in contact and notify and direct people here. My folks still live by HHS and I’m still out in the country near Sterling, married 24 years, 3 girls. I’ve talked to more of us on Facebook than at a reunion! I’ve posted pics of HHS demolition/construction on the HHS class of 82 facebook group.

17. Patti (Burdick) Finch - June 25, 2009

Hello all. I have been way out of touch! I am living in Galveston TX with my husband of 9 years. We are recovering from Hurricane Ike, which has made me miss the dry, flat lands of Kansas! No kids for this kid, but I’m a Grandma to my husband’s 5 grandkids. I am a Financial Analyst for the Unversity of Texas Medical Branch in Gavleston. I can’t remember the last time I went to Hutch – maybe 6 years? Didn’t know HHS was demolished – will check it out on Facebook (Thanks Christy). Nice to see some familiar names – doubt anybody will remember me and I’m not sure what made me look up HHS Alumni after all these years and miles!
